How it works
Some outbound links on this site are affiliate links. If you follow one and go on to sign up or buy, the company pays a commission. It costs you nothing extra — the price is the same as it would be arriving any other way.
Not every link is one. Links to official documentation, government pages, and companies with no affiliate programme are ordinary links and earn nothing.
What commission does not buy
No company can pay to be included, to be ranked higher, to have a criticism removed, or to see a page before it goes live. Commission rates play no part in what is written or in what order things appear.
- Options that pay nothing are covered on the same terms as options that pay well.
- Where a product is the wrong choice for a job, the page says so, commission or not.
- No page describes testing that did not happen, and nothing here carries a score.
Why it is done this way
Affiliate commission pays for the time it takes to write pages properly, which is the alternative to advertising or a paywall. The risk it carries is obvious, and stating it plainly is the only real defence against it.
